    This plane is a HOOT!!!

Posted by Pappy on May 1st 2026

I already had quite a fleet of TH planes, and when this plane was announced and I watched some videos. I just had to get one! I pre-ordered mine, and got one of the very first ones a few days later. The build was straightforward and fun. Took longer than it should have because I wasn't mindful of CA accelerator accidentally being sprayed on areas about to receive glue, so I had to clean off the accelerator and wait, or use Foam-Tac instead, which is what I did on some steps. Maiden flight was in very choppy 10-15 mph winds, and no fun at all, even though the plane handled it fine. Next day, with no wind, I verified the best CG and started playing with it. Harrier flight is excellent, it will knife-edge (with considerable coupling), and do 5' diameter loops, 2' above the ground. In a very light breeze, it will hover in one place in harrier flight, surfing the wind. In zero wind, it will harrier at less than walking speed. Trick I discovered: You can stand it on its tail, prop up the rudder a tad, and do a vertical launch from the ground. You MUST start off with a bunch of down elevator, and have the motor already spooled up at a high idle before you punch the throttle. With a 2S 450, vertical could be a bunch better, but it will hover and very slowly climb out from one. It looks goofy as all get-out in the air, and with the belly coming at you, it almost looks like a PBY from the underside. It's a keeper. I LOVE Twisted Hobbys planes!
